It is no secret that by the time the last run of Uncanny X-Men ended I wasn't too upset. The stories had been losing their drive and I was not that connected with the lead, Scott Summers, and didn't care. I actually thought initially that I would not be picking up this title due to the taste the last run left in my mouth. Surprisingly, Brian Michael Bendis' work has been so good so far in All-New X-Men that I thought it would be criminal if I didn't at least give this a shot as well. I was not disappointed.

The focus in this X-Book is to flagship the "Scott Summers" X-Men and their adventures. We are seeing this group (Magneto, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Magik and other newbies) collecting new mutants and also learning how to deal with the changes in their powers. I have been loving the aspect that everyone that had direct contact with the Phoenix Force lost something during AvX and it seems to be highlighted a lot here.

This issue mostly focused on trying to convince a freshly awakened mutant to join their team and fight off some Sentinels while doing so. While this story is taking place a mysterious person is talking to S.H.I.E.L.D. about Scott Summers and that they can help shut him down. The person is revealed by the end and it is a little surprising.

I am happy that I gave this title a shot and it has fallen onto my pull list. It seems that these current X-Books are not letting a long time fan down at all. Every new book I find gives me something else to be happy about. I am actually becoming convinced that I should grab the no adjective X-Men when it launches. I have all of the last run ready to read now that I know that it isn't its own universe and that the characters are related to the world I am familiar with. Way to go Brian Michael Bendis, you got me completely loving X-books again.

    Hey! I am sorry to be posting on such an old article, however, I started reading the Uncanny and I was wondering if I should read anything before it (I am a newbie!). :/

      The series will make a little more sense if you read "Avengers VS X-Men" but it isn't necessary I guess. If you tackle this, maybe read a synopsis of the last year or so of X-titles so that you aren't confused as to why Wolverine and his team are so mad at Scott. Other than that, this run should stand alone (I hope).
