Book two of the new Marvel event still felt incredibly introductory. I feel like the first two issues of this series could have been balled into one book but I that doesn't mean this issue was bad. It is good to see that not all of the heroes are together but it also brought up a lot more questions as to what the hell is actually going on.

One of my big issues with this book so far is trying to figure out who is actually Peter Parker. Bendis' writing of Peter doesn't feel very Otto like but he has stated that the story does take place in the Marvel NOW continuum and there is a Superior Spider-Man book tied in so I am a little lost. Maybe because crap is so serious Otto isn't really himself...who knows... I did like Peter's story as to how he ended up tied to a chair in the first issue but that ALSO brought up more questions.

I understand that these early issues are meant to set the pieces in motion and by the last page of the book there does seem to be some motion happening. I am excited to see what "the plan" is in the next issue and I am still insanely intrigued as to how the world went to shit over night. I have a lot of faith in Brian Michael Bendis right now and I trust he wont let me down.

  1. yeah - 2 issues in and we still dont even have a clue what the hell is going on - at least the issues are released rather fast so the wait is not that long.

the Spiderman thing is really strange though because in my mind this WAS Peter Parker and felt nothing like Otto at all.

I listened to the IGN Comics podcast recently and they had the same feeling, even stating that since the event has been in the works for so long, maybe the Peter/Otto thing wasnt even on the table when this issue was written.

but well - since there is a Superier Spider-Man book coming out soon, maybe it will shed some light on this topic.

Right now, i like the event though - it seems pretty selfcontained and doesn't demand the focus of every other Marvel Comic - but its still early, so lets wait and see :)

    1. Sorry for the slow response Stefan...this blog is getting harder and harder to keep up to date!

I have seen a few responses to fans from Bendis who claims it is in the Marvel NOW world but seems to be slightly evading if Peter is Otto or not. This may be due to what you mentioned about the arc being in works for so long and the fact that the body switch was hush hush. I don't know though...it may also be a hint that the Otto thing is coming to a close soon which Slott has also teased.

Other than the Peter thing I am staying positive here. After re-reading this issue I am enjoying the drop into the action instead of the leading up to. I see a lot of potential here, I just hope there isn't a big choke at the end AND that this isn't some sick way to start Marvel's version of the "New 52"...I doubt that is the case but there are rumors...

Anyhow, thanks for the constant feedback Stefan and I will hopefully post my stuff for this week's comics this weekend.
