Oh how quickly the day-to-day lives of superheroes go to crap. This issue of Avenging Spider-Man focused on that concept. The Thing is babysitting his niece and nephew while Spider-Man is just trying to get across town without wasting his always expensive web-fluid. While this is happening, two brothers dig up an alien artifact in Central Park that has the ability to make everyone around them fight and be angry with one another.

These two guys (mostly one of them) tries to sell this artifact to a big time criminal called the Top Dog while it is still turned on causing The Thing and Spider-Man, who ran into one another, to fight each other. The Thing seems to be a tad upset that Spidey still owed him $30 from a poker game a little while ago.

Of course it can't end that way and stuff happens that makes everything turn out okay (notably something that makes the Thing give Spidey a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG kiss) and the heroes part ways. The issue was pretty silly actually. There was no huge issue, just two superheroes interacting with a few jokes within. It was pretty standard for an annual, especially one for a comic that already have very small pull on the overall storyline of Spider-Man.
