This is the final CHRONOLOGICAL reading order for Avengers vs X-Men in my opinion. I have spent a lot of time compiling this and appreciate everyone's support. I recently re-read the whole event and this seems to flow incredibly well. If you feel something is off, feel free to let me know but once again, this is in chronological order, as in the order that events happen. I know there are issues out of numerical order, that doesn't matter. Marvel sort of threw us all over the place while putting this event together. If you read it like this, I completely stand behind the idea that you will enjoy it a lot more. Happy reading my friends and feel free to click the links on issues to see how I felt about specific moments.

This is awesome. I haven't had a chance to go through the books in this order, and I may not for quite a while, but it's cool that you're working it out. Marvel should be paying you.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I am able to help out! I am also glad that you actually read this thing because it is a pain to keep updated (I need to do it again for this week's issues) but as long as people appreciate the work and find it helpful it will continue! I hope you keep reading and enjoying my blog!
DeleteIt shouldn't take you that long to update - all you need to do is copy again from the original.
DeleteThis is the last time I will be responding to you my wonderful anonymous troll. This reading order is complete, I have no idea what update you are referring to. If you are unhappy with my blog which contains no copy and pasting you do not have to waste your time reading it. Do take care.
DeleteThanks for this I have bought most issues but haven't had time to read them just the main AvsX:Rounds & AvxX:Fights which you can read as stand alone. Please keep this up as I may go through next month again without having time to read them all.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm just now jumping in and had no idea how to sort this out.
ReplyDeleteYou are the man. The lack of comments do not accurately reflect how helpful this reading order is. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteI am happy you feel that way. Just spread the word because I want to make sure this order is being used by someone other than myself! There would be no reason to keep updating it if it were only for me. Happy reading!
DeleteStill collecting the issues, thank you for the complete set. I plan on reading it in this order. Thanks!!
DeleteThanks so much for your efforts!!! CIMOTA!!!
ReplyDeletewow - thank you so much for this list :)
ReplyDeleterecommended it to a friend of mine .. thx for keeping it up to date :)
Dude this is awesome helped me so much! Do appreciate your hard work! Cheers brother
ReplyDeleteGreat work. I'm a little behind (only in Round 6) but plan on checking out your reviews once I'm caught up.
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I haven't read anything yet. I want to do one long marathon of reading and this list is such a huge help. Are you going to update soon with the final issues? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is great, thanks so much, was starting to get lost with everything coming out...
ReplyDeleteGreat job sir. Saving them all up for one big reading session and this is gonna help out tremendously. One question though: Are the "a vs x" issues essential to the story arc or just action padding. They're the only issues I haven't picked up. After all the money Marvel are making out of this you'd think they'd pay someone to release a detailed reading order like this instead of waiting for a dedicated fan like you to do. Again much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteTechnically they are just big fights and do not add to the story. However, they are amazingly fun to read and I feel they add a lot to the reading experience. But if you really do want to cut it out due to the immense amount of money that this whole series will put you back, you won't be missing much.
Deletebut i would really read the one with the fight between Storm and Black Panther .. that issue is just amazing
DeleteThank you so much for all this. I have been buying this series since it started and didn't want to read it till I had them all and it was done. However I haven't seen a checklist or anyway to read these in order so without this I would have no way to even know where to start. Keep up the good work sir and remember it is almost over!
ReplyDeletePhil the Comic Guy or as I like to call you, Phil the freakin man!! Thanks for this my friend it helps out TONS! I personally could use some help with the "Utopia" Chrono Order as well if you have it or have the time. You have a FaceBook or Twitter?? Love to follow you my man. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you appreciate this so much. This is actually my first chrono order so I do not have a "Utopia" one sadly. I had stopped reading comic books for years and just jumped back on the bandwagon about a half a year ago...I do however have a twitter account @philthec in which I tweet new blog posts and other interesting comic news. If I get some time after all of this AvX stuff and my intense reading of Amazing Spider-Man I can try to help you create a chrono order...no promises though my friend.
DeleteWhere is Interlude II - The K'un Lun Prophecy of the Phoenix? It goes after Round VI - Pax Utopia and contains New Avengers 25-27 and two others, but I don't know which ones. Also, should AvX vs #5 be in Round #4? It might have some significance, but that is wrong. Thanks for the up otherwise.
ReplyDeleteThis is in chronological order. The K'un Lun Prophecy of the Phoenix is actually spread out due to events in those issues. I originally had toe Prophecy as its own thing and may return it to that...but I feel the flow of reading it this way works better. As for my placement for #5 I currently stand by it. The mention of Storm's separation from Black Panther is key to this placement and for a chronological reading it makes sense here. Thank you for your input though. I have put a lot of time into putting this crazy mess in order and always listen to people's opinions. You are welcome to read them in the order that you stated though...this is just my opinion of placement. Happy reading friend.
DeleteYeah, I want to sing your praise as well!!! Thank you so much for doing the hard work. I'm really only an X-Men reader so I've been reading through the list just on the X-titles side but still I very very much appreciate this! Gonna start following @philthec for sure!
ReplyDeleteI am also normally an X-Men reader but broke my old habits by reading Avengers titles and am not regretting it. I am glad you like the list...it took a lot of time. As I said in an earlier response that it is chronological order and just my opinion on how you should read it. After it is all over I am going to re-read the whole mass and make sure this is my final order...
DeleteFeel free to follow me on Twitter...I have recently had a pop of followers so I will be updating more frequently. It is amazing to see so many others enjoy reading comics! Lastly...remember the official "Avengers vs X-Men" series ends Wednesday! Exciting stuff!
Ummm thought it was over with Avengers #30...then Wolverine and the X-men #18 happened..."Sheesh"
ReplyDeleteDon't forget "AvX: Consequences"... You can tell my angst over the same topic in my other reviews. The reality of it, however, is we still buy the issues and read them. Also, "Wolverine and the X-Men #18" was a good read and it is heading to the future. Just bear with it for now my friend, soon Marvel NOW! will be here and you can either love it (as I hope to) or hate it (which is also a possibility) with the rest of us.
DeleteGlad I found this blog, thanks for the great work!
ReplyDeleteWikipedia also listed the "Avengers vs. X-Men: Infinite #1, 6, 10" as part of the tie-ins. Where do they fit in all of this?
Honestly, I am not certain due to the fact I didn't read those three issues. I feel like those were attached to AvX #1, #6 and #10. Soooo if you want to read them in order I would assume read them after the corresponding AvX rounds! Also, thanks for the praise :)
DeleteInfinite #1, 6, and 10 are included with Avengers vs. X-Men #1, 6, and 10.
ReplyDeleteAlso, AvX: Consequences #2 was just released Oct. 17!
Thanks for the Infinite bump...I didn't read them myself. Were they only on the Digital Copies? I haven't seen paper versions. I also know that Consequences #2 is out and my reading order has been updated. Sorry, it normally takes me till Saturday or Sunday to update this thing. Luckily, it should be over in three more weeks!
DeleteI have been out of comic book collecting since I was a late teenager in 1998. I was an avid X-Men fan, and tried to balance staying true to my favorite titles (x-men, uncanny x-men), and getting as many crossover issues for big stories like Age of Apocalypse, and the Onslaught saga.
ReplyDeleteEnter AvX. For some reason, this story has re-ignited my passion for comic book collecting. Soon after reading this page I went to my nearby shop and asked for help putting this collection together.
Thank you so much for compiling this reading order and bringing back my comic book fan!!
I am so happy to hear that you are back into comics! It is truly an enjoyable experience to find something to sit back and relax while doing. AvX actually was a major player in pulling me back into comics so we have something in common.
DeleteI will warn you if you haven't finished this series that the ending is relatively lame so be prepared. Other than that, it is an enjoyable (but expensive) ride.
Please feel free to read any of my other comic reviews and feel free to ask about any comic that you see that I am reading on my blog. If you are really trying to get back into comics I can't recommend "Hawkeye" enough. It is only three issues in and has been a magnificent book thus far.
Happy reading my friend!
AvX: Versus #5 is missing
ReplyDeleteNo it isn't....it is #27. Remember this is chronological not release order and that particular issue due to Storm and Black Panther's conversation it comes before the other issues....
DeleteThank you! I've finished up most of it and used your list as a template.
ReplyDeleteNot a problem! I am glad it worked out for you!
DeleteThanks man, will check out your list and see how it goes. I just started reading this and got up to round 5 and the tie ins were just all over the place and didn't make sense. From what I have read so far your list seems to be making sense. Will let you know when I've finished it using your list. Thanks for your hard work.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the tie-ins were all over the place. I am re-reading the whole batch right now myself to see how this order works out...so far so good. I think this will be the final order! Let me know what you think and if you see anything that should be changed. Happy reading!
DeleteWhy is there an exact copy of this on Squidoo? You didn't write this. If I were you, I'd remove it now before we get in touch with Blogspot.
ReplyDeleteI actually did write this and have been working on it for months. I did not even see Squidoo's list until you mentioned it and yes, it seems to be identical. I built this from my own reading/talking to my friends who were also reading it.
DeleteRegardless of similarities, it is a reading order. I have no issue with Squidoo having the same thing and I'd hope as another comic lover, the author of that reading list would feel the same way as long as people are reading comics. The reality of this is I am not getting paid to do this blog, I am doing it for fun. So take a breath.
If you happen to be the author of the Squidoo reading order, I'd love to chat with you about some things that happened in this series.
Oh, I also contacted the writer at Squidoo so we could talk. I hope that appeases your seeming anger. You should check out all of my other posts before completely attacking me.
DeleteThanks!
Anonymous guy can't be serious; you did a nice job PhilteC, thank you :)
DeleteThis is just being started publishing today in my country so... next six months I'll have some fun ;)
Thank you for your support! I hope you enjoy AvX and I hope you continue to follow my blog!
DeleteThis list is great, thank you! I followed a google link here and now have read a bunch of your reviews. I really enjoy your blog!
ReplyDeleteOne quick unrelated note, thumbs up or down on Iron Man NOW? I don't need a review, I know they take a while but would appreciate knowing if you liked it or not. 3.99 is a lot for a comic and I trust your taste!
I am glad you enjoy the blog and I am always happy to hear that people are reading my reviews!
DeleteThe new Iron Man is not on my official pull list so I am glad you asked about it. I wont be reviewing anything that isn't on my weekly pulls because the amount of comics I actually read is overwhelming. Regardless...I did read Iron Man #1. I have never been a giant Iron Man fan and have never read one of Tony Stark's titles before. I will admit that I enjoyed this issue a lot. It wasn't perfection by any stretch of the imagination but it was enjoyable. Tony is facing his past and the past of other great inventors by having to take on his/their greatest fear, seeing their technology falling into the wrong hands.
If you are a fan of Iron Man definitely grab the title. If you aren't, but are interested and not overly weighed down by other titles, grab it still. For the most part I am enjoying Marvel NOW and will be reading everything that comes out under that guise. Let me know if you have any questions about anything else Marvel NOW related that is out and feel free to follow me on twitter @philthec. I normally drop my knee-jerk reactions to books I am not officially reviewing there.
Happy reading Wandering Widsom and always feel free to post here! I love talking to my readers!
Wow great list, seems like a lot to read though. As a reader of DC, I've decided to start reading Marvel. So I did some research and found out about the new Marvel Now event to entice new readers which follows from the conclusion of the AVX event. Now this is quite a list, so do you think it's worth reading it all or just reading the main 12 issues?
ReplyDeleteThat is sort of a loaded question my friend. Taking into account that you are a DC reader I just want to forewarn you that this event will have A LOT of characters that you may not be too familiar with. So be prepared for that. The only reason I say this is because one of the guys I do my podcast with is a DC guy but he read the 12 main issues of this and was lost on a few of the key points making it harder for him to enjoy. By reading all of the tie-ins you will have more of an understanding of what is going on and with the characters. I do, however, find it difficult to tell you to read everything in this list. I think you should read the main 12 issues and if you enjoyed it enough to grab other parts within. I recommend the VS books as well as Wolverine and the X-Men as starters. If you are a bit lost and really don't want to do anymore damage to your brain from reading this go ahead and start reading some Marvel NOW! titles. They are quite good and even though they are supposed to be part of the aftermath of this event it hasn't had too much pull yet....
DeleteLet me know if there is anything else I can help you with and welcome to the world of Marvel comics... it is quite the ride.
Don't know if you know, but this page is now the top result when you Google "avengers vs x-men reading order" - so congrats on that. I'm glad this has helped many others as it helped me. Making my way through the event again and this order flows much more logically than the flustercluck of what I was doing before.
ReplyDeleteOne note I thought I'd make, though it might have already been mentioned (didn't read through all the comments), but in Round 0-2, you have Avengers #25 placed near the end of the section, though the events appear to take place sometime between AvX #0 and AvX #1. AvX #1, Wolverine & The X-Men #9, and New Avengers #24 all lead up to the point where the Avengers and X-Men fight at Utopia, while Avengers #25 leads up to the Phoenix appearing, putting it chronologically before those three and either at the same time or shortly after AvX #0.
I could be wrong and am missing something. Thoughts?
Those placements are mainly there due to references in the actual reading. The fight on the beach is shown at the beginning of Avengers #25 and then it tells us that it takes place earlier. It, the same as the other books you mentioned, are placed where they are for the same types of reasons. When I re-read this event for the third time this seemed to flow the best. If you feel there is a better placement, let me know. I'd love to read them again in a different order and see if it flows better to me.
DeleteAlso, thank you for the praise! I am glad that you were able to use this order to help you get through this thing. It is a bit rough...
Awesome this was a great help when I decided to start taking on this marathon
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that it was a help!
DeleteWATXM 12 should definitely be read BEFORE Avengers 29. It may be chronologically the other way round, but dramatically it must be read that way round.
ReplyDeleteAlso New Avengers 28 is set after those issues.
I will not argue for a dramatic standpoint that reading WATXM 12 before Avengers 29 works, but this is a chronological reading order after all. As for New Avengers #28, I am going to have to go back through the mass of comics to check that out but at last read-through the order worked. Thank you for your notes though! I hope the rest of the order worked for you.
DeleteWell, it does say "If you read it like this, I completely stand behind the idea that you will enjoy it a lot more." I would dispute that including these two in that order enhances the reading experience. It doesn't. In WATXM 12 you see Rachel's interaction with Hope. In Avengers 29 it is revealed what really went on there - that is the point of showing the same battle twice. Reading them the other way round makes the WATXM reading redundant (in fact it renders that scene utterly incomprehensible, but let's not pick hairs about that obvious last minute recon). A29 might start and end before WATXM12, but you make exceptions for flashbacks elsewhere (such as A25 and the K'un L'un issues) and I think that really applies here.
DeleteAs for NA28... certain characters are depicted in prison who are free in A29.
I do not disagree with you Tom but after re-reading the issues again I still enjoy reading them as I have them set. This is just a recommended reading order after all, so feel free to flip those things around and read them in that order if you'd like. I don't want you to feel as if I am ignoring your arguments, because I am not. You make incredibly strong points and I think that there are other possibilities for reading orders that work and to be fair may work better. I just put this out there as a basis for people to start off with and in a (for the most part) chronological order. I didn't count K'un L'un as flashbacks, I counted them more as a story being told TO people at a specific time...
DeleteOh well, I hope the rest of the order works well for you friend and I appreciate you taking the time to write more than once and obviously check out the blog. I also think that we can agree that AvX as a whole was a cluster of confusing orders and some things just don't seem to fit well.
Thanks for the list. I used to read Marvel years and years ago (around the time of Days of Future Past), but lately have been reading DC. Decided to give Marvel a whirl again and was looking for a place to start. Thought of starting with Civil War, which I still want to read someday, but decided instead to start with the more recent AvX. This list will help immensely. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find Marvel Point One #0 anywhere, though.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that this will help you. Please do not skip "Civil War", it is quite good at points even though the ending was a bit of a controversy. I hope you enjoy AvX, there are some wonderful moments and yet some moments that will confuse and perhaps anger you. It is good to know what happened here though if you intend to jump back into the Marvel world considering a lot of titles that are currently running have something to do with the events that happen here.
DeleteAs for Marvel Point One #0, it is insanely hard to find. You may just have to dig for it but don't overspend or freak out about missing it. The preliminary readings are not really necessary. They are only listed here because they are directly related.
Many thanks for the list! I'm getting back into X-Men after AvX kind of shook me and I needed this! Great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm a tradewaiter but I've wanted to read it as a complete story eventhough I already know the outcome. I was already wondering what tehe most logical reading order would be.
ReplyDeleteIn a few months I will have all of the required trades and I'll use your list to read the issues :-)
Thanks for the list mate! I subscribed to Marvel Unlimited, and i think your list is more accurate than the listing on the aforementioned site.
ReplyDeleteI realised that MU's listing was crap when i read 'Civil War: The Confession' as a starting point for the CW series because MU listed it first under the Civil War category, and basically found out one of the main conclusions at the outset...shit..haha.
Well, thanks again for the effort mate! *thumbs up*
ed
Thank you for the praise! It is hard to believe that I started compiling this list over a year ago. I am really happy that people are still using it considering the massive amount of time it took to compile.
DeleteI am sad to hear that MU doesn't have quite the same list. Perhaps they have them listed in release order and not chronological. They are two totally different reading experiences but I think it flows much better this way. The other way feels very choppy and unnatural.
Happy reading Ed. Feel free to thumb through the rest of the blog as well. I MAY try to do an Age of Ultron reading order when it is all over, it is much smaller than this and should be a lot easier to compile.
Thank you for taking the time to reply Phil.
ReplyDeleteAll these comments must certainly be very encouraging. Nobody likes to do good in a void right ;)
MU is just in it solely for the money. Hence, they don't bother with what is most helpful. Your chronological order approach makes sense.
That said, it would be good if you could slot in the 'Infinity' issues in the above list.
As for the Age of Ultron series, Marvel released an 'Age of Ultron' highlight for the month of April, where they listed some of the past titles that is helpful in understanding this whole Ultron thing (i just picked up comics again a month ago....prior to which, the last time i read comics was more than 2 decades ago...Archie comics ;) )
They included titles that goes back to the Birth of Ultron, his upgrading, his bride, etc. I'll stick up a screenprint of that list on my Facebook for you to look at if you think it might be helpful in your AU series-compilation venture if you decide to do it. It shouldn't be too difficult, unlike the AvX series, which you so obviously put much laudable effort into.
Here's the link to the aforementioned screenprint Phil - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=587316994625389&set=a.290874077603017.76431.100000412808196&type=1
If for some reason you can't access it, just go to my main FB page.
Oh, yes, i'll certainly be 'thumbing' through your pages here. Thanks for the efforts again mate :)
I always reply to my readers. I like the personal connections you can make through blogging as well as having other people to discuss things with.
DeleteAs for the 'Infinite' issues that came out with AvX, I never purchased or read them due to them being digital and the fact that I actually bought everything else here so I was not certain as to where they would fall in the overall reading order. That said, I think you can look that up somewhere...maybe?
I will definitely look into the Birth of Ultron stuff for an 'Age of Ultron' reading order. I am still torn if I am even going to do that though. This was enough of a venture for me.
Anyhow, I am happy to have you as a reader Ed and I hope you get a chance to look through other posts. I try to keep this thing updated at least once a week but it can get difficult due to my real life work.
I hope to hear from you again.
Hi Phil, I was suggesting the inclusion of the 'Infinite' editions just for readers' convenience. Infinite 1 falls before AvX 1, and Infinite 6 falls after AvX 6 - according to other sources. Personally, Infinite is just a brief tale of related events told across too many pages. It's more like a 'special effects' comic and whose content can actually be summarised in a single page - judging from Infinite 1. Infinite 1 tells the 'story' of how Nova had a run-in with the Phoenix Force, and that leads onto AvX 1 where the Avengers find Nova all beat up after his crash.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the Age of Ultron will be much of a challenge as there are only a few tie-ins. Much less than the above which is truly a big job.
Hope things are getting along fine with your 'real life' ventures Phil :)
ed
I understood what you were saying with the infinites...perhaps I am just lazy at this point when it comes to updates. Maybe I will do it when I get home....
DeleteI agree Age of Ultron will not be half as difficult. At some point I will throw it all together...
Thanks! Placing the 'infinite' editions was my next question.
Deletep.s., just to update you, the AU reading list, according to the AU promo card is the following:
ReplyDeleteMarch releases
Age of Ultron #1
Age of Ultron #2
Fantastic Four #5AU
Superior Spider-Man #6AU
Age of Ultron #3
April releases
Age of Ultron #4
Ultron #1AU
Avengers Assemble #14AU
Age of Ultron #5
Age of Ultron #6
Wolverine & The X-Men #27AU

Avengers Assemble #15AU
Age of Ultron #8

Fearless Defenders #4AU
June releases

Age of Ultron Epilogue
Yeah, I have that promo card too. It makes me happy to see there are only three more books. This bad boy has been expensive as well. Once I get the final three books I will throw together some sort of chronological reading order for the thing.
DeleteThanks for the help though Ed and I hope you find other entries on this site as interesting for you..
Think I found an error. I've been reading through this order and all has been working well. However, Avengers #29 is placed after New Avengers #28 and AvX #7. The problem is Hawkeye was captured in AvX #7 and shown to still be in custody in NA #28. Yet in Avengers #29 Hawkeye is seen joking with the Avengers about Moondragon before the attempted capture of Rachel Grey. This means that Avengers #29 and the concurrent WatXM #12 and #13 occur BEFORE AvX #7
ReplyDeleteYikes...I need to go BACK through all of that and see what is going on. Thank you for pointing that out. I also need to drop in the Infinite comics....this job is never done...
DeleteFYI: You're missing Wolverine and the X-men #17
ReplyDeleteIt isn't missing actually it was intentionally skipped. For some reason they made a random Doop issue that was not AvX related...
DeletePhiltheC - Thanks for all your hard work assembling this list!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be using this for a while. thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great list. I work overseas and I'm trying to get all these in order. Your diligence does not go unappreciated.
ReplyDeleteHey, first of all, THANKS SO MUCH for taking the time to do this wonderful work. I'm just about to begin to read Avengers X-sanction, and here's the question:
ReplyDeleteIf i start reading everything following your order exactly as it goes, i will be able to fully understand everything?
Would really apreciate your answer. Thanks again Phil!
Cheers from Argentina
You should be able to understand everything going on in this event if you read it in this order, yes. It helps a bit to know the characters involved as well but I assume you do or you wouldn't be interested in reading the thing to begin with! Happy reading Joaquin!
DeleteHello thank you for this..you must have sacrificed a lot of time...I just needed to know if it is beneficial to read the AvX verses comics or if i can skip them....A big thank you in advance
ReplyDeleteIt is beneficial to read them if you enjoy face punching. It is easy to read the whole event and not concern yourself with the fights but they do add to the enjoyment. Matter of fact, they are some of my favorite books from the run.
DeleteAwesome... I've finally picked up everything Avx related and now I can easily read them in the correct order. You rock!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am really happy people are still putting this bad boy to use.
DeleteAfter re-reading the Avengers Vs. X-Men saga I finally get the story!
ReplyDeleteI am happy I could be a help!
DeleteIve been using this for over a month. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled that people are still using this reading order a year after I started putting the thing together. As long as it is helping readers better enjoy the cluster @#$! that was AvX, I am happy to help.
DeleteAfter a fairly long comic book lay-off I heard about this x-over event. So I began a back issue hunt down of titles and like so many others before me found this list invaluable. Deciphering an order sequence from the oddly released titles on the timeline would have driven the Watcher insane! For your efforts you have my thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou are so very welcome! Check out some of my other blogs too if you are interested in other X-Men/Spider-Man related stuff. (Look at the more recent stuff, I am getting my groove back). I am just insanely happy that many people are still using this thing after all of the months of work it took to get it together. Enjoy the somewhat enjoyable event!
DeleteI have a question about the placement of Uncanny X-Men #18. The first page in that issue says "Read Avengers Vs. X-Men #10 before you read this issue" and it also says "The only remaining possessors of the Phoenix Force are Cyclops and Emma Frost". You have this issue placed after AvX #11, but in AvX #11 Emma loses the Phoenix Force. Seems like it should be read before AvX #11? By the way, thanks for the reading list--I would have been lost without it!
ReplyDeleteThe reason that the disclaimer is there is because "Uncanny X-Men #18" and "Avengers Vs. X-Men #10" came out the same day. They didn't want the story to be ruined by reading them out of order. I'd have to look back at those issues (I haven't read them in like a year) to double check the flow of the issues but I felt like it worked best the way I have them. Let me know if you really do feel differently!
DeleteI am glad the reading order helped you.
After reading Uncanny #18 again, I think it makes sense to put it where you did. Part of Uncanny #18 is taking place during AvX #11; the dinner scene is taking place in the minds of Cyclops and Emma during the battle of AvX #11. I think if I had read Uncanny #18 first then the end of AvX #11 wouldn't have been as powerful.
DeleteSo please leave the order like you had it :-)
Glad to hear it!
DeleteThanks for the list.
ReplyDeleteJust to be clear here. You did mean Marvel Point One #1, didn't you? I can't seem to find an issue 0 anywhere.
I did mean #1 and can't believe that hadn't been caught in over a year and a half. Thank you, I will update that asap.
DeleteThanx! Your work is highly appreciated.
ReplyDeletethank you for the list. first thing I noticed when I saw the list is that some are in grey letters. Any reason for this? thanks again :)
ReplyDeleteI believe the comics that you are referring to that have the grey lettering are comics that have links to reviews. Feel free to check them out too!
DeleteFYI - Comixology is currently selling the entire AVX series - all 70 issues (ie not including the preliminary reading you have included) plus the three infinitesimal, plus the four What Ifs, all for 99c each ie about $77 for the package.
ReplyDeleteExpect to see some more hits and comments on this page! I wish you'd done this for Civil War because the official reading list published by Marvel was a complete dog's breakfast!
Thanks heaps, Phil - this was awesome!
I am happy that this helps! I haven't written a blog post in over a year and almost forgot that this even existed. I may try to restructure the blog and start writing again soon. I have a feeling that I may have to do another list like this when Secret Wars happens this summer...
DeleteI just finished reading this event and most of the crossover stuff on Marvel Unlimited. Your reading order list made the whole experience so much more navigable than any guesswork on my part could have. Thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteDon't mention it! Sorry for the slow response. I haven't been updating this blog for a while due to my job. I plan to get back to it before Secret Wars to potentially do another reading order if necessary. The last few events haven't really seemed to require the effort that this one did. Happy reading!
