As far as .1 issues go, this one was pretty good. It focuses on Betty Brant who is trying to uncover the identity of the new Spider-Man. She is running on the assumption that he has something to do with The Prowler due to the video taken of his death where he told Spidey that he was just like him. It seems Betty is not a terrible reporter.

Using her reporting skills (that has to be a super-power) she is able to get into The Prowler's old apartment and finds the spider that bit Miles. With this she is able to contact someone who worked at OzCorp and learned exactly what the purpose of the spider was. She was so close to figuring it out but ends up fingering Miles' father instead of him.

Finally, we are reminded that in the universe J. Jonah Jameson is the opposite. He isn't out to get Spider-Man, he thinks he is a hero. He doesn't want to ruin anyone's life and he refuses to run Betty's story. Granted her end result was wrong but it would have gotten the world one step closer to finding out the true identity of the new Spider-Man.

Oh...did I mention Venom shows up? Yeah...that happened. It seems there is a lot going on in the upcoming issues of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man and I am excited!
