"On the Eve of Battle"

The time is coming for the final showdown between the Phoenix Force and the X-Men with the Avengers. The school at Utopia have combined with Wolverine's school and are settling into their new environment. Wolvie is talking to Hope about the battle to come and everyone is starting to prepare.
It has become more than obvious for a while that the X-Men would be joining forces with the Avengers to finish this fight. Scott Summers is out of control and the Phoenix Force must be stopped. Iron Man with the help of Beast and Broo has started to come up with a game plan that may actually make it so the world is still in one piece and for them to score a win against the Phoenix Force.

Everyone else is settling in nicely, meeting one another and trying to spend potential last moments together. We also see Kid Gladiator with his father and the fate of Warbird after the Shi'ar leave Earth.

This comic can easily be explained as the calm before the storm. We all know that something big is coming next month (ahem...next week) and so do the X-Men. The issue ends with the old-schoolers (Xavier, Beast, Wolverine, Rachel Summers, Iceman and Angel) walking away from the school with the students looking on behind them. We know the time has come for the final battle and I couldn't be more excited. I can also never say enough about this comic series. I have yet to be let down by Wolverine and the X-Men...I give this issue a 9/10 and am SO happy this is not one of the soon to be cancelled titles.
