The Second Master Part Two
I was nervous picking up this issue purely based on my lack of knowledge of "The Rangers" and the "The Texas Twister" looked soooooo stupid. Luckily, I trust in Yost's writing as well as the direction Scarlet Spider is headed and snatched this issue up. "The Rangers" aren't as horrible as I thought...silly heroes perhaps by look, but not horrible.
This issue picks up right where #7 left us with Kaine in Roxxon Tower discussing some issues with David Walsh, the Roxxon C.E.O. "The Rangers" had shown up to take Kaine into custody due to his minor breaking and entering infractions...A pretty decent fight ensues and leads later to more discoveries as to what Roxxon is up to and the realization of "The Rangers" that Kaine is in fact a hero and not a villain that they should be trying to fight. I guess a bunch of dead bodies and a weird electrical monster can do that to a group of people.
I am really liking the direction this comic is going. If anyone thinks that this Scarlet Spider is at all related to the dude from the 90's, take a deep breath, grab an issue and see how different Kaine is. You wont regret it.
Scarlet Spider #8 wasn't the best issue yet, but had no problem grabbing a 8/10 from me.
