"Danger Zone Part One: Warning Signs"

The end is coming...we know it is coming...it is impossible to ignore it. Slott said a couple months ago that The Amazing Spider-Man #700 was it and that in issue #698 something big and bad was going to happen. There are SO many things that can go wrong at this point that it is hard to choose which thing will happen to Spider-Man if not everything. I am getting ahead of myself again though...

On the heels of Alpha finally being out of the picture we are getting a major tease that Spider-Man's identity may be common knowledge again soon. See, there was a slight glitch in Doctor Strange's spell to make everyone forget Spidey's identity from "Civil War" was if he ever outted himself in any way it would break the spell. He, not thinking, did so during "Spider-Island" but at the time no one made the real connection that he was THE Spider-Man. With this happening, people can now make the connection again that he is our web-head.

Enter Sally Floyd and her report of "The Man Behind Spider-Man"...aka Peter Parker. It has become common knowledge that Spidey gets his gadgets from Horizon Labs and it is revealed, in a newsreport, the Peter is the one making these things. People MAY be able to connect Peter to Spider-Man...they may not. This is one of the many things that Slott is throwing at people to make them come up with their own conclusion of Amazing Spider-Man.

On top of all of this potential release of who Spider-Man really is, we have Tiberius Stone working with Phil Urich (curreny Hobgoblin) and The Kingpin figuring out how to manipulate Spidey... Tiberius has figured out a way to retrofit the contraptions used in Spider-Island that helped with his spider-sense to make it think that the smallest danger would harm him, causing it to flare constantly. While freaking out from this, Phil Urich captures Peter who just had the report about being the gadget creator released...it is unclear if this is because he knows he is Spider-Man or if he does it to draw Spider-Man out.

Also we have Madame Web sending her daughter off to live with her grandparents in Colorado so that she isn't around for what she saw coming. It seems Julia Carpenter knows her death is coming...Oh...also...Roderick Kingsley, the original Hobgoblin, is back and ready to come after Phil Urich. Whew...is there a lot coming or what?

Slott promised us a lot in these final few issues and he is not letting us down. It is cool to see Gage working with him as well but makes me wonder if perhaps Gage is taking over for Slott after #700 with the inevitable Spidey title coming in January. I do want to say that I am loving this arc and will be sad to see Amazing Spider-Man go. Let's all enjoy these coming final five issues....
