"End Times"
New Avengers without Luke Cage seems to be right around the corner. It is good to see the man decide to put his wife and child before his career as a hero but it is hard to think of this team functioning without him. Oh well, life goes on...
This issue opens with a what seems to be possessed version of Victoria Hand (liaison for the Avengers) going around "dealing" with some people. Notably, we see Daimon Hellstrom trying to explain to her that there is a disturbance who she quickly shuts down.
After the little intro we see the New Avengers discussing Cage leaving the team and helping him move out of his rather large mansion. There are a lot of jokes about people buying it from him for pennies (Spidey offers $13), and they discuss if there will still be a team after he leaves. This is still not clear by the end of the issue but I didn't expect it to be. We still have a couple more issues with Bendis writing New Avengers, can't have all of the answers already.
The issue ends with a bit of a cliffhanger making one assume that whatever had possessed Victoria is able to move to other hosts. The comic closes with it (or so it seems) inside a much more powerful host.
This was a fun comic. I like seeing the members of the New Avengers acting like friends and trying to see what the future holds. I am looking forward to seeing Bendis finish his run and see where the new #1 is going to start us out.
