"New Union"

It is no secret that I was super excited for this title and I am not sad that I was. There is a lot going on here and there are a lot of characters involved that I love. But the first thing to mention is that if you are looking for Logan's eulogy of Professor Xavier, this is where it is located. It is very full of emotion and it really shows how much Logan has grown over the years as a person.
Later there is a serious exchange between brothers, Alex and Scott Summers. It is made very clear how Havok feels about his brother's choices. Alex is quickly offered the leading role of a new Avengers team by Captain America himself which he is incredibly reluctant to accept.

Soon after we are shown the grave site of Xavier with two long time enemies having a "discussion", Rogue and Scarlet Witch. Rogue is definitely still not happy with Wanda but they are interrupted before their fight can get too big by some new mutants that are under the control of Red Skull. They are there for a malicious deed that I won't share but it isn't too surprising...

All in all this was a fun issue and I am excited to see where it goes. I think this is going to be the place to really see where human/mutant relations are heading. Remender is still not letting me down....

  1. yeah - it was a good start .. not great, but good. But i have to confess i am a little confused with the appearance of Red Skull .. isnt he dead? His daughter .. the new red skull was such a prominent figure in Fear Itself.. but i have no idea what happened to her afterwards? But this doesnt look like Sin .. :/ Well, lets wait and see :)

    1. I honestly am not that aware of what is going on with Red Skull...I think this is very much going to be a wait and see type thing. This is our first "Marvel NOW!" title....I hope that Marvel doesn't let me down...AVX was sort of a knife to the stomach.

    2. Read your AvX reviews and you seemed to be generally positive about it, so why now call it a 'knife to the stomach'? Or are you talking about the disappointing 'Consequences'?

    3. It is true that my reviews were generally positive because the event as a whole was fun to read. My issue with it is the ending (after I let it stew for a week or so) left me feeling cheated. There were so many build ups that never came to fruition such as Hope being trained by Iron Fist and Spider-Man...I am also talking about the disappointing 'Consequences' Scott Summers blab fest. It just feels tacked on to continue to drain my wallet (which it is of course because I am a sucker and can't quit now).

Sooooo, I stand by my 'knife in the stomach' comment but suppose I should say that it does mostly focus on how the ending has left me feeling and the post-event comics. I am currently re-reading the whole event minus X-Sanction so that I can get a read on it now that the initial slap is done. I feel that I will come away from it feeling much more positive. The early issues have once again made me feel good about my massive purchase (I am about 30 issues down on my chronological read order) and I am feeling better about the ending. I will post one giant 'This is how I feel' post once I re-read it all.

Sorry that was so long-winded, I felt you had a legitimate argument and I just wanted to make sure you knew I didn't flip-flop. Happy reading friend and I appreciate you reading my blog. I hope you continue to do so!
